The luxurious Villa Asada, complete with 4 bedrooms and a swimming pool, is blessed with one of the most spectacular coastline views in Bali. Located at Manggis, near Candidasa in East Bali, the glorious panoramic vista follows the coastline to the east and west, overlooking Labuan Amuk Bay, the shimmering sea, the Blue Lagoon, and the islands of Nusa Penida, Nusa Lembongan and Lombok. The land also lies in the rain-shadow of Bali’s most sacred and mystical landmark, Mt Agung, to the north. At just over 3000 metres high, Mt Agung is Bali’s tallest and holiest mountain, and on clear days its resplendent summit provides a dramatic backdrop to the villa.
Part of a small development of seven designer villas, known as Kalyana Bay Villas, Villa Asada rests upon 15 are of hillside land, at an elevation of 25 metres above sea level. It is just 50 metres from the seashore, where a reef offers superb snorkelling. The contemporary-styled villa is comprised of two double-storey buildings, and the architecture is characterised by an abundance of space and light, elegance and graceful simplicity. Guests will enter via the Living & Dining Room, which is located on the upper level.
ENTRANCE
Kalyana Bay Villas are positioned a few hundred metres from the main road, accessed via a private driveway. Villa Asada has its own secure entrance with a parking area and also a garage large enough for two vehicles.
LIVING & DINING ROOM
The main Living & Dining Room is an expansive 16.5 in length and 7 metres wide, with folding glass doors and a covered balcony running the full length of the room, thereby maximising the breathtaking view and making it an ideal space for parties. The living area is furnished with a comfy three-piece sofa suite and a coffee table, while a separate sitting area presents cushioned chairs and a small games table with a chess set. The dining area is furnished with a table for ten. The room is cooled by ceiling fans and gentle sea breezes; the folding glass doors can be opened up on both sides to allow for cross ventilation. A music system is provided for guests’ entertainment and a washroom is positioned to one side.

FAMILY ROOM
The Family Room is comfortably furnished with water hyacinth sofas, armchairs and a suar wood coffee table. A bold blue wall displays a Palimanan stone bas relief depicting Balinese village life. The room is set up as a home theatre with a large flat screen TV complete with satellite channels and a DVD player. A powder room is accessed from here for the convenience of the guests.
SWIMMING POOL & GARDEN
The 18 x 4 metre infinity-edge pool reaches out towards the sea and is perfect for swimming laps. A creamy-white Palimanan stone pool deck is furnished with eight sun beds and sun umbrellas. There is also an outdoor dining table and a large open-sided ‘bale’ relaxation pavilion with a shingle roof and a deeply cushioned floor. Spacious flat lawns make this another superb area for parties and receptions. The ornamental pond complete with urn fountains provides the soothing sound of running water.
LOCATION
Villa Asada is located ten minutes’ drive from the quiet seaside village of Candidasa, which boasts a rich heritage close to many of Bali’s most important historical landmarks and attractions. This beautiful, undeveloped area is set well away from the hustle and bustle of mainstream tourism in the Island’s magnificent eastern regency of Karangasem—an exotic royal Balinese kingdom of forests and mighty mountains, emerald rice terraces, islands, beaches, temples and palaces.
There are plenty of restaurants in Candidasa. Visitors can shop for bargains in vibrant local markets or enjoy cultural performances of Hindu dance epics. The villa is a great base from which to visit ancient kingdoms and mystical palaces, including Puri Agung Karangasem in the centre of Amlapura, as well as the Taman Ujung Water Palace, and the complex of bathing pools known as Tirta Gangga. More energetic activities include rafting dramatic rivers, cycling through gently swaying fields of rice, climbing mighty volcanoes, and snorkelling or scuba diving into an exotic world of psychedelic fish. Prestigious neighbours include two of the best resorts in Bali, Amankila and Alila Manggis.
The nearby village of Tenganan is a unique 700-year-old walled community hidden within the hills. One of Bali’s original pre-Hindu settlements and a stronghold of native traditions, the residents practise a time-honoured lifestyle based around ritual and ceremony. Visitors are welcomed during daylight hours, with many of the houses also functioning as shops and workshops where expert craftsmen and women perform their centuries’ old skills.
Just a few kilometres away, Padangbai is a major harbour for ferries to Lombok as well as for smaller boats to Nusa Penida. It is a very picturesque village, with semi-circular hills surrounding a sparkling blue bay and sandy beach. The best beach in the locality is the peaceful Pasir Putih, a white sand crescent-shaped beach bordered by coconut groves. A few small bamboo and thatch warungs serve food and cold drinks.
Family Attractions in the area include the Bali Safari & Marine Park, and the Odyssey Submarine Adventure, an ideal activity for those who would like to witness the marine life under the ocean without having to scuba dive.
Villa Asada is 2 hours’ drive from Bali’s International Airport, 10 minutes from Candidasa, and 15 minutes from the ferry port at Padang Bai.
